On Monday 3rd November, we held a whole school assembly on Teams, where we discussed remembrance, what and who we are remembering, the symbols and traditions, and we also had a look at some interesting stories of people who fought in the Second World War. Some of those stories were of people from diverse backgrounds who fought for Britain.
Throughout the week that followed, the Charity Committee sold poppies and other items for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. On 11th November, we held a remembrance event with the whole of Year 7, School Ambassadors, Student Council members and Charity Committee in Upper Hall, with the rest of school joining in on Teams.
There were remembrance readings, a wonderful rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow by the Fitzalan Finches and the laying of a poppy wreath. Of course, at 11am we observed the two minute silence and the whole school fell silent in remembrance.
Thank you everyone who contributed and for the amazing respect shown by our Fitzalan community.
When you go home, tell them of us and say,
For your tomorrow, we gave our today.
