Year 7 visit to the Cardiff University School of Archaeology, History and Religion with SHARE With Schools
On Friday 5th June, a group of 20 Year 7 pupils were invited to visit the Cardiff University School of Archaeology, History and Religion with the SHARE With Schools team. Our day began with a fascinating ‘taster lecture’ about Roman houses and investigating some of the houses in Pompei. Our next activity centred around ancient Mesopotamia.
The pupils made clay ‘cylinder seals’ inscribed with words, pictures and symbols that were relevant to them. In groups they then created gifts and tributes for the King, based on different peoples of ancient Mesopotamia. Mr Smith became the King and each group presented their tributes with much deference and bowing!
Our final session was in a teaching laboratory, and we were challenged to match bones to the animal they came from. As always, we had a fantastic time with the SHARE With Schools team, we learnt lots and also had a lot of fun.
