Remembrance 2022

The week leading up to 11th November, every year group had a remembrance assembly with a particular focus on the story of the British West Indies Regiment during the First World War.

Poppies were sold across the school and on 11th November we held our wreath laying ceremony at the front of school.  A small number of classes, staff and our Naval Cadets gathered at our remembrance tree where we heard poignant readings, and a cadet placed a poppy wreath under the tree.

The wreath laying ceremony was streamed live, so that all classes across Fitzalan could watch.  At 11am the school bell signalled the start of the two minute silence and the whole school fell silent to pay our respects and honour those who have died fighting for this country and the freedom that we enjoy today.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
