On Wednesday 2nd June, the history department took a group of Year 7 pupils to visit Cardiff University School of History, Archaeology and Religion with the SHARE With Schools team. As always, the SHARE With Schools team planned a fascinating and fun day for our pupils.
There was a taster lecture and we visited the archaeological laboratory where we saw a Bronze Age pot being reconstructed and ancient Egyptian artefacts being conserved. The pupils a session where they played a game that taught them about the lives of medieval peasants. Possibly the highlight of the day was making Mesopotamian clay cylinder seals and gifts, including crowns, riding coats and lion cubs for the emperor.
At the end of the session there was a procession where the gifts were presented to the emperor (Mr Smith) with much bowing and deference.
A big thank you to the SHARE With Schools team for a day filled with learning and fun.
