PE Lesson Update
Please find below a letter from our PE Team.
Dear parent/carer,
Re: Physical Education (PE).
The PE department are extremely pleased to inform you that PE lessons will be going ahead, adhering to our ‘return to school’ Covid guidelines. The department has worked hard on a plan to make sure the physical and mental well-being of the pupils will remain a priority, ensuring that the environment is as safe as possible for all of our learners. All pupils will be expected to participate fully, as normal.
As we approach our return to school, I wanted to take this opportunity to provide some clarity about our expectations regarding PE lessons in terms of participation and kit.
If your child is unable to physically participate in the PE lesson, please can you contact your son’s/daughter’s PE teacher via email with the explanation before school on the day of the PE lesson at the latest. The system will replace the current written note policy until further notice. We will expect however, for your child to take a less physical role in the lesson such as a coach, leader or official, where appropriate.
The formal school uniform requirements are in place from September, this includes the PE kit. All pupils are expected to comply with our school uniform policy. Our school uniform, including PE kit, helps to play a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of the school and sets the appropriate tone for learning.
As you can imagine, we are facing certain restrictions regarding the delivery of PE lessons upon our return. It will therefore be necessary for all pupils to come to school in their PE kit on the days that they have PE lessons, as the changing rooms will be unavailable. Spare footwear/socks maybe brought to school if desired. This restriction will remain in place until further notice.
Please can you assist us in this matter and ensure that your son/daughter wears the correct Fitzalan PE kit on the days that PE is timetabled. The PE kit remains the same with no changes, black top with Fitzalan badge and black shorts and trainers. As we will be attempting to facilitate PE lessons in the open environment as much as physically possible the pupils will be permitted to wear black tracksuit bottoms with the Fitzalan logo and also girls will be allowed to wear sports leggings with the Fitzalan logo. We also encourage all pupils to bring a light rain jacket to protect against the elements. Your son/daughter will not be permitted to wear any other sports clothing or hoodies on these days where PE is timetabled.
Thank you for your continued support as we look forward to the new term.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs C. Fear
