On July 3rd and 4th, 29 students from Fitzalan spent two days being immersed in the Welsh language at Cardiff University. The aim of the summer school, which was led by lecturers from the School of Welsh, was for pupils to have a taste of what being a student at university entails. Pupils heard from students, both present and past, about their experiences of university life and, in particular, of studying Welsh at Cardiff. They also learnt about the history of the Welsh language and how useful it can be in the Wales of today. Of the 29 pupils who attended, 16 stayed overnight in one of the halls of residence.
Feedback was along the lines of they wished they could have stayed longer!
All pupils were a credit to themselves, their families and their school. Da iawn!
