Year 9 & 10 Hockey Results

The Year 9 and Year 10 team have both played in their first fixtures of the year.

Year 9 were away against Corpus Christi on Thursday 13th September. I feel when we visit Corpus we go back in time as they play on red gra. I used to play on this surface when I was in school. It is not the easiest surface to play on. We had a strong squad with 14 players attending. This group were outstanding in supporting the Year 11 GCSE class for their hockey moderation last year. Captain Thuraya Mahyoub once again shone in the centre of midfield. Fitzalan really tried to pass the ball and display the skills they had developed in their recent matches against the GCSE group. Unfortunately, Corpus were quite strong and caught us several times with counter-attacks. The final score was:

Corpus Christi: 5

Fitzalan: 0

Asiya Hakoma was Miss Daniels' player of the match.

The Year 10 team were in action on Monday 17th September against Plasmawr. It was fantastic to see some new faces wanting to try hockey. Yet again we went with 14 players, with Kelsey Morgan, Saadya Farah, Grace Girling and Heather Spillane all making their debuts. Kelsey Morgan was outstanding and was voted by Plasmawr as the player of the game. Kelsey was thrilled. Once again, Fitzalan moved the ball forward well. Captain Hanaa Mohamed and Amira Mohamed were solid at the back, executing the ball well. Ellie David showed her attacking prowess dribbling up to our attacking circle. Plasmawr were solid in defence and we couldn't quite execute our chances. The final score was:

Plasmawr: 3

Fitzalan: 0
