Chocolate Raffle - Action Aid

Undaunted by the challenges posed by the Covid-19 situation, the Fitzalan Charity Committee were determined to continue their fundraising efforts towards the end of the autumn term.

We renewed our appeal for non-perishable food items for the Butetown Covid-19 Emergency Food Box Project and although this became a little difficult with pupils and staff having to work from home, we were at least able to send off a few bags and boxes of food to this very worthy project.

It has become tradition to hold a Christmas Chocolate Raffle each year and the funds raised by this go to pay our child sponsorship with the charity Action Aid.

For quite some years now, Fitzalan has been supporting a child in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  Again because of the situation with Covid-19, we had to do things a bit differently this year and we were only able to do the raffle with Fitzalan staff.  Staff pledged a donation to buy a virtual ticket and we managed to raise a fantastic £145!  We are hoping that by the time we hold our Easter Egg Raffle, the situation will have improved and we can sell tickets to both staff and students.

Thank you so much to everyone for their support and generosity.  The Charity Committee are working hard to think of other possible ‘socially distant’ and ‘virtual’ fundraising events for this term.  Do let us know if you have any ideas.
