Just before the Christmas holiday, Miss Millard, Mrs Lear, Dr Penny and Mrs Harrington took a group of year 11s to see the highly esteemed Jack Thorne theatre adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
After a long journey, we were greeted with freshly baked mince pies, served by the performers dressed in Victorian costume, singing...Christmas Carols! The theatre was lit with glowing lanterns and a live orchestra playing traditional carols to greet us as we made our way to our seats.
The performance was fantastic, bringing alive the heightened emotions felt for Tiny Tim and the Cratchit family, along with the resentment, anger and ultimately sympathy felt for Scrooge. The performance creatively captured aspects of the characters, bringing them to life for the students and broadening their opinions and critiques of the plot!
