Friends of Fitzalan and Parent Hub

On Monday 9th December, a group of mums came into school and made new friends, engaged in story sharing, drank tea and made a beautiful winter bouquet. Everyone went away smiling and asked when the next get-together would be. But, how did this happen?  It was because these mums attended the first meeting of the 'Friends of Fitzalan and Parent Hub'!

This group will offer a range of educational and leisure opportunities to our Fitzalan families and although it was mums that came this time, dads and other family members are warmly invited too.  Marilyn and Sakina, the group’s facilitators, say that the group is a place where we can chat, make friends, and enjoy taster sessions of a range of hobbies from floral art to cooking and a variety of crafts.

“At our meetings, we will try to provide whatever the group would like" explained Marilyn. "In the new Year, for example, some mums have asked to meet with a teacher who will explain the GCSE requirements of the English exams.  They want to learn how best to support their children, as they prepare for their exams and engage in revision.”

A calendar of 'Friends of Fitzalan and Parent Hub' meetings will be available in the new year and all  sessions are free of charge.  “We hope to see a lot more mums,” said Sakina, “for everyone is welcome”.

We would love to meet you, so please get in touch to suggest a date by emailing the school contact: Mrs A. Thomas ath@fitzalan.cardiff.sch.uk
