The pedagogy team is a growing team in Fitzalan, now made up of 14 members of staff. After completing a self-assessment and looking at strengths and areas of development, the team have looked closely at the Professional Standards for Teaching and Leadership. Additionally, we have looked at the role of the pedagogy team to establish a shared vision of how we can work together to develop professional learning within the school, whilst keeping the Four Purposes as a focus throughout.
As leaders of pedagogy in our school, we also aim to share our findings with schools in across our consortium, to support school-to-school working, to share what we know about Curriculum for Wales and to pose questions about the things we do not yet know. Curriculum for Wales is an exciting opportunity for us to collaborate as a staff and create something special for our pupils, that will engage and challenge them to reach their full potential. Therefore, part of the pedagogy team’s role is to strive to be at the forefront of these discussions.
In recent sessions, Lead Practitioners have been developing professional learning sessions for Central South Consortium colleagues, which were delivered on our cluster INSET day in October. All sessions and resources have been shared on Hwb for staff to access. Lead Practitioner sessions include: Middle leadership in Languages. Developing the Health and Wellbeing Curriculum, GCSE Geography Network, Network Development Cross-Phase Literacy, Language, Literacy and Communication and Developing International Languages. If you would like to get involved in any pedagogy projects, please contact a member of the pedagogy team; SRE, VMC, SDZ, RST, SDR, SBI, CFE, EWH, BSP, LOS, CMO, YRA, GKA & ATH.
