Calon Lan

A group of year 7 pupils spent Thursday afternoon (4th July 2019) at the Grand Theatre in Swansea.  Written and composed by local boy Mal Pope as part of the 5Oth anniversary celebrations of Swansea gaining city status, 'Calon Lan - The Musical' tells the story of the Methodist revival of 1904 and, in particular, the significant contribution of Evan Roberts, the composer of Wales' famous hymn 'Calon Lan'.  The production was very well-received by both Fitzalan pupils and the remainder of the (considerably older!) matinee audience - a number of whom were kind enough to compliment the pupils on their good behaviour and politeness. A lovely afternoon was rounded off by pupils bursting into 'Calon Lan' on the mini-bus journey home!
