Action Aid- Chocolate Raffle

For some years, Fitzalan has sponsored a child through the charity Action Aid.  Most recently we have been sponsoring a young lady called Kumona Fatou who lives in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  Kumona is 12 years old.  Action Aid work to reduce malnutrition, improve access to education and also tackle issues with health care.  We receive regular updates about Kumona and it is always a pleasure to read about the progress that she is making.

Throughout the year, the Charity Committee hold events to raise money to cover the cost of Kumona’s sponsorship and it has become somewhat of a tradition to hold a Christmas chocolate raffle.  Staff generously donated selection boxes and other Christmassy chocolate and we had lots of lovely prizes to win.  The raffle was drawn at the end of term and we raised a fantastic £100.  As well as this, staff donated £1 each to wear a Christmas jumper on the last day of term and there was also a collection at the Christmas Carol Concert.  Each of these events raised £100, so this year we will be able to send an extra donation to Action Aid as well as the usual sponsorship.  Thank you to everyone who donated and helped organise the events.  Once again the kindness and generosity of the school community will make a real difference to people in need.
