Ffair Haf - PTA Summer Fayre

Fitzalan High School PTA was delighted to present the annual Summer Fayre on the afternoon of Wednesday 11th July 2018.  The afternoon also hosted the Cultural Celebration, which was well received by pupils, parents, visitors and staff alike.

Mr. O’Brien compered the afternoon and luckily, the sunny weather helped pupils to sing, dance, listen to poems & presentations, play games, balance on ultimate lemons, get faces painted from Project Spectrum and the art department, purchase plants, books, gifts, take part in bottle flipping, get henna tattoos, entertain the local neighbourhood with the ambulance, fire engines, mounted police and watch Simon Sparkles the magician! What an afternoon!

The steel pans and on-stage performances were superb and started with ‘Man in the Mirror’.  A huge well done and thanks to the music and languages departments, and the pupils for the performances.  Many parents commented on how the music ‘made the atmosphere of the summer fayre’ and we agree!  Thanks to Mr. Jones, Mr. Thomas, Miss Dummett for the sponge the teacher event, Ms Timbrell for the handbag stall, Ms Oakley for organising the food, Mrs Brown for manning the Bric-a-Brac stall and Miss Sims for the bear and sweet activity.  The PE department had a great time with their quad events and over at the Sports Hall with the crossbar challenge.   The Jolly Jars were back due to popular demand and it was lovely to see new stalls such as Marble Madness, Bowl Out Mr. Ahlom, the Tombola the Ultimate Slime stall, CCF stall, and the Indian food were all represented; thank-you so much.

Huge thanks must go to Andrea Sprudd and Rhianne Massin, who have kept the PTA focussed and on track in the planning, as they managed to obtain some great raffle prizes.  Diolch also to the admin and estates teams who supported throughout, along with the parent members of the PTA.   1st Prize in the raffle, the 49” television, mini iPad, Golf day, scooter, guitar, gift vouchers and many other prizes were won too.  The summer Fayre raised £782, which is going towards refurbishing the wellbeing classroom to benefit the pupils of our school.  Thanks to everyone for your support.

The PTA is looking for greater parental involvement in events such as the Summer Fayre.  If you would like to get involved with the school’s PTA, please contact Rhianne Massin on the following email address rma@fitzalan.cardiff.sch.ukor by phone on 02920 232850.
