World Health Day 2018

As part of World Health Day 2018, the emotional support service at Fitzalan ran a health fair for  year 9. The fair consisted of a number of health-related organisations coming together to provide information and support to our pupils on health issues that may affect them and their families. Stall holders included a number of medical students from Cardiff University who provided information on lung health and smoking cessation, optometry, first aid, cardiac health and podiatry, whilst Cardiff Metropolitan University provided staff and students with a mini health MOT. This was complemented by a mini-workout via the very successful smoothie bike which was run by staff from Taff Housing. In addition to the medical students, support was also received from Sight Cymru, Heads Above The Waves, Switched On, St John Ambulance and a healthy relationships stall run by our very own child sexual exploitation ambassadors. The day was a great success with pupils recording that the health fair increased their aspirations in terms of entering the medical professions.
