Community Conversation - Imran Nathoo

On Friday 3rd December, Year 11 and Year 12 pupils were visited by Imran Nathoo – the owner of a dental practice in Cardiff and an avid foodie (He even made it through to the quarterfinals of MasterChef in 2017). The visit consisted of a talk from Imran and a Q&A session.

Imran shared about his school life, his university experiences and his path into dentistry. He also shared about how he used food blogging and cooking to help deal with the many stresses and strains of life, including navigating his degree. The pupils were so engaged and asked some excellent questions about his practice, his time on MasterChef, work experience and university interviews. He also gave them some ‘tips for success’ which encouraged the pupils to be resilient and motivated.

Imran will be returning in the New Year to speak to some year 13 pupils about personal statements and university options – we are looking forward to it!

We have more ‘Community Conversations’ sessions planned for next half term – so watch this space! We aim for these sessions to help the pupils to recognise and acknowledge the people who have been successful in their communities and to inspire the pupils to ‘dare to dream!’.
